DESCRIPTION

FRĒODŌM Surfaces represent the highest level of material and conceptual development within the studio’s practice.

Each field is conceived as a sculptural composition in architectural form, integrating advanced ceramic engineering with expressive surface authorship.

Developed through extended research cycles, multi-stage forming, and layered firing sequences, these works explore the interaction between ceramic, mineral, and hybrid material systems to generate depth, rhythm, and atmospheric presence beyond conventional architectural finishes.

All editions are produced under direct artistic and technical supervision, ensuring that concept, material behaviour, and execution remain inseparable.

VALUE & EDITION FRAMEWORK

  1. Studio Editions — Curated Production

These limited editions form part of the studio’s permanent creative catalogue.

They reflect sustained research, experimental material development, and high-risk fabrication processes.
Each edition is realised in controlled batches and curated for collectors, architects, and institutions seeking authored material systems.

  1. Commissioned Works — Site-Specific Compositions

Custom commissions extend the Channel System into fully bespoke architectural and sculptural environments.

Pricing and scheduling are developed per project and reflect:
• Research and prototyping requirements
• Material system development
• Installation engineering
• Interdisciplinary collaboration
• Senior creative oversight

  1. Integrity & Production Governance

All quotations incorporate structural allowances for the inherent variables of complex, high-value ceramic fabrication.

The studio operates within a managed network of specialist suppliers, fabricators, and installers to ensure long-term stability, technical precision, and delivery continuity.

INSTALLATION PROTOCOL

FRĒODŌM Channel Systems are not designed for conventional adhesive-only tiling.

Installation is executed through dedicated mechanical or hybrid fixing systems, specified per project in accordance with the studio’s Installation Charter.

Installation must be coordinated with the studio or approved partners to preserve structural integrity, surface rhythm, and long-term performance.

Non-compliant installation voids system warranty.

VISUALISATION NOTE

Published imagery combines studio photography and conceptual renderings.

Digital environments are illustrative only.

Material behaviour, texture, and light response are authentic.

Images communicate atmospheric intent rather than fixed layout prescriptions.

Final compositions are developed in response to architectural context, lighting conditions, and curatorial direction.

CURATION & MATERIAL CHARACTER

Each FRĒODŌM edition embraces the principles of Wabi-Sabi and material honesty.

Visible traces of process form part of the work’s identity and documentation.

These may include:
• Tonal and relief variation
• Controlled glaze pooling and crazing
• Subtle dimensional variance
• Irregular joint articulation

These characteristics are integral to the authorship of the system.

TEXTURE, LIGHT & SPATIAL PRESENCE

FRĒODŌM surfaces are engineered to interact dynamically with light.

Layered material structures refract, absorb, and reveal depth over time, generating shifting shadow fields and tonal transitions.

As environmental conditions change, the surface evolves — establishing a living architectural presence rather than a static finish.
